The MyOhioNow.com Plan

Our plan is quite simple. All the tax revenues from the casino will be divided evenly, based on a per capita basis, to all 88 counties in Ohio. The only county that will receive a special share, will be the host county that will need the added revenue to pay for increased safety costs and infrastructure needs to accommodate this project.

Each county may spend their money at their own discretion, deciding for themselves the best use of these dollars. Each county has complete autonomy. Ultimately, what is needed in one county is different from what is needed in a different county. Local officials are best able to determine appropriate projects to fund.

Clinton County, as the host county will receive additional revenues for the additional burden on their government. This will include increased safety forces, infrastructure and other additional obligations. Thus, Clinton County will receive 10% of the wagering tax. All 88 counties will then divide the remaining revenue.

Share The Wealth

The financial distribution aspect of the MyOhioNow.com casino plan is called SHARE THE WEALTH. The proceeds from the casino are divided fairly to every county in Ohio based upon population. Each county can decide for itself how to spend their money, with no strings attached. As a result, every citizen in Ohio will benefit equally no matter where they live in the State.

It is possible to estimate the revenue benefit that each county will receive each year. MyOhioNow.com has based estimates on two separate models that reflect most accurately with the current proposal. These models are the Mohegan Sun casino and the cumulative impact of the three Indiana riverboats that control southwest Ohio.

Based on these two models, the casino in Clinton County will generate approximately $800 million dollars in the  GROSS GAMING WIN  and therefore $240 million dollars in revenues to Ohio. The following chart reflects the income each county in Ohio can expect to receive each year. Population information comes from the 2000 census.
